Alirajpur (Madhya Pradesh): A video showing three men kidnapping a young girl from Alirajpur market went viral on social media. The criminals, carrying sharp weapons, forced the girl onto their motorcycle.
Netizens slammed the commuters and locals for standing and watching the show instead of fighting off the kidnappers and helping the victim.
Fortunately, some distance away, when the vehicle stopped due to traffic jam, the victim swiftly jumped off the bike and escaped.
The incident was reported area on Friday, however its video went viral on Tuesday. The girl had gone to market with her sister, when three men from Kakoda village in Dhar district arrived on a motorcycle with weapons and grabbed the victim. When her sister protested, they threatened her with sharp weapons.
The kidnappers drove away with the girl but got stuck in heavy traffic ahead. The brave girl saw her chance and jumped off the moving bike, then hid in the crowd to escape. The three men fled when they realised she had gotten away.
Police have registered a case after seeing the video, even though the family did not file a complaint initially.
Police station in-charge Nepal Singh Chauhan said officers are searching for the three suspects. The reason behind the kidnapping attempt remains unclear. More details will emerge only after the men are caught and questioned. All three accused men live in Kakoda village under Tanda police station in Dhar district. A reward of ₹5,000 was announced for information leading to the arrest of each accused.
