Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): A vehicle rally was taken out by members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, opposing celebration of Valentine’s Day on Tuesday evening. They also submitted a memorandum, addressed to collector, to tehsildar Sunil Kumar Dawar and police station in-charge RC Bhaskar.

Bajrang Dal district security chief Dilip Bhabor, VHP district treasurer Sunil Bhatt, Bajrang Dal city co-convenor Jitendra Bamnia, VHP city co-minister Hrithik Rathore, VHP city vice-president Virendra and other workers were present.

In the memorandum, they stated that workers of VHP and Bajrang Dal are committed to protection and security of Indian culture from time to time. They strongly opposed the prevalence of western culture such as Valentine’s Day in the Indian society.

They claimed that criminal acts are increasing in the name of celebrating western culture and that various institutions of the district are promoting western culture. They also appealed to the youth not to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

They demanded police to check hotels, restaurants, cafes and parks on February 14 and stop any activities or programmes. The workers said that they will also take appropriate measures in case any obscene activities are found to be conducted in the name of Valentine’s Day.
