Madhya Pradesh: Murder Accused Sets Himself Ablaze Outside Ratlam Police Station

Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a murder suspect reportedly set himself on fire outside DD Nagar police station premises late Friday night. As per police reports, Ajay Panwar (35) reportedly intoxicated, arrived at the station after dousing himself in petrol.

He suffered severe burn injuries. Witnesses said that Ajay demanded legal action against certain individuals and created a scene. After he came outside, he set himself on fire, much to the shock of everyone.

Although passers-by and police personnel immediately doused the fire, but not before four officers including head constable suffered minor injuries. Before the incident, he already had sprayed petrol on his clothes. Ajay suffered 50pc burns and was initially treated at a local medical college before being referred to a hospital in Indore.

Following the incident, Superintendent of Police ordered an investigation into the case. Ajay Panwar had six criminal cases against him, including a life sentence for the murder of auto driver Narendra Singh. He earlier set the auto on fire which burnt into ashes. He had been released on bail for a brief period before this incident.

Notably, on January 9, he filed a complaint against witnesses in his murder case, claiming they had assaulted him. More details are awaited as the police began investigation into the matter.

Ajay, previously noted for his alarming behaviour, visited the police station on February 6 and 14 intoxicated, threatening to take his own life. The troubling pattern has resulted in six registered cases against him, including attempted murder and assault.
