Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Unravelling a big marijuana smuggling syndicate, Crime Branch cops arrested a mother-son duo who was running the cartel for the past many years.

The duo has multiple cases registered against them and was carrying a reward on their arrest, police officials said.

Additional DCP (crime) Shailendra Singh Chauhan said crime branch team under sub inspector Irshad Khan arrested Kiran Ahirwar (55) and her son Monu (30) near Subhash Nagar under bridge on Thursday. The mother- son duo was wanted in cases of NDPS Act.

Investigations revealed that they were involved in smuggling of marijuana from Orisssa in large quantity and used to sell them to dealers and peddlers in Bhopal and surrounding regions.

Resident of Kainchi Chhola area, Kiran has 3 cases of NDPS Act registered against her at Chhola Mandir, Bajaria and Crime Branch police stations while Monu has five criminal cases against him at Shahpura, Nishatpura and Crime Branch police stations.
