Bhikangaon (Madhya Pradesh): A culvert built with poor construction in Baman Dokri village of Kaanjhar Gram Panchayat was demolished on Friday.

The demolition was carried out with JCB under engineer supervision, marking the first such major action against substandard construction in Bhikangaon locality.

The culvert was sanctioned for ₹10 lakhs but investigation revealed that only ₹4 lakhs worth work was actually done and that too of poor quality.

Villagers had continuously complained about the construction quality to the SDM office. Their complaints proved correct during official investigation.

Janpad panchayat CEO Pooja Malakar Saini called the sarpanch and secretary to the district office on July 18. She strongly reprimanded them and ordered complete demolition and reconstruction with

proper quality standards. She warned that such misuse of Panchayat funds would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The demolition process began Friday under engineer Madhav Narve's supervision. Local villagers including Shobharam Jamre, Madan Dudve and Dhan Singh Bohra were present during the operation.

Villagers welcomed this decisive action and promised to closely monitor the reconstruction work to prevent any future irregularities.

However, locals raised serious questions about accountability. Despite confirming corruption involving ₹4 lakh misappropriation from the ₹10 lakh project, no legal action has been taken against

responsible parties. The sarpanch, secretary and contractor involved in this corrupt deal remain free without any consequences.

No FIR has been registered and no official has been suspended despite clear evidence of fund misuse, locals said adding. They expressed concern that without proper action against the culprits, this demolition would remain merely a show-off exercise.
