Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The State Excise Department launched a district-wide anti-drug awareness drive on Thursday, targeting school children and general public. Officials visited multiple schools and colleges to educate students about the harmful effects of drugs and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Under the directives of District Collector Asheesh Singh and Assistant Excise Commissioner Abhishek Tiwari, the department also displayed posters with anti-drug messages at all 173 liquor shops in the district, as part of its ongoing drug de-addiction campaign.
Posters carrying slogans like “Say No to Drugs” were put up at composite liquor shops to inform people about dangers of substance abuse and methods of prevention. Simultaneously, field staff conducted in-person sessions at various educational institutions.
At Government Higher Secondary School in Vijay Nagar, Circle Malwa Mill A In-charge Sub-Inspector Mahesh Patel, along with former corporator Jitendra Bundela, addressed students from Classes 9 to 12, speaking on the side effects of drugs and preventive measures.
In Vijay Nagar and Government Higher Secondary School, Doodhiya, Circle Bhoi Mohalla In-charge Sub-Inspector Manmohan Sharma, Malwa Mill B In-charge Sub-Inspector Sunil Malviya, and Internal Circle 1 In-charge Sub-Inspector Ashish Jain held detailed awareness sessions.
Circle Palasia In-charge Sub-Inspector Priyanka Chaurasia, Circle Sanwer In-charge Sub-Inspector Triambika Sharma, and Internal Circle 2 In-charge Sub-Inspector Jaya Mujalde visited Government Secondary School, Panda, and a private school in Rau, speaking to students about substance abuse risks.
Sub-Inspectors Kritika Dwivedi and Meena Mal from Circle Mhow A and Mhow B, along with Bombay Bazaar Circle In-charge Sub-Inspector HS Ghureya, conducted awareness drives at Government High School Mhow, KBEP Government Higher Secondary School Mhow, Government Higher Secondary School Nandanagar, and Sandipani Government Higher Secondary School Mhow.
Balda Colony Circle In-charge Sub-Inspector Meera Singh addressed students at Malwa Kanya Higher Secondary School, Moti Tabela, while Depalpur Circle In-charge Sub-Inspector Manish Rathore visited Navin Government Higher Secondary School in Kalaria to discuss the dangers of drug use.
Excise officials said the campaign is gaining momentum, generating strong public awareness, and encouraging youth to adopt a healthier, drug-free lifestyle.
