Sanawad: In Sanawad town of Khargone district, BJP workers observed June 25 as Black Day. Party workers visited the houses of the MISA bandis who were imprisoned under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during the Emergency period in the country. BJP leaders feted them with shriphal. Media in-charge Nilesh Malakar said that the party workers called on the kin to fete late Lalajeevandas Bansal, late Babulal Rathod, Kailash Jatale. Jatale told media persons about the atrocities and torture done on MISA prisoners during the Emergency imposed by then PM Indira Gandhi.
In their address, BJP leaders Sandeep Chaudhary and Raja Soni said that the Emergency imposed by late Indira Gandhi on June 25 is a blot on democracy, which still brings tears to the eyes while remembering the evils of the then government. Whoever raised issues of the poor, farmer was jailed.
During my tenure Cabinet gave nod to financial aid to the MISA prisoners'
In Sendhwa town of Barwani district, ex-cabinet minister Antar Singh Arya and MISA prisoners recalled the Emergency period. Arya said that at the time of emergency he was very young, what I saw and heard at that time was very sad. The torture unleashed united the opposition and the Janata Party emerged and subsequently BJP came into existence in 1980.
He added that when during his tenure as a Cabinet minister- the Cabinet provided for financial assistance to the MISA prisoners. It was later brought under the purview of the law so that the aid of MISA prisoners canít be stopped by subsequent government.
Misa bandis feted
On Friday, on the occasion of anniversary of the Emergency, Mukam Singh Kirade, mandal president Lokesh Chouhan, nagar panchayat vice president Lokesh Patidar, Ajay Dassondhi, along with other BJP workers, including Misa bandi Umashankar Patel and captive Ramesh Dhadiwal were feted at their residence.
