Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Barwani district collector Shivraj Singh Verma inspected the central lab and ordered chief medical and health officer (CMHO) to address the loopholes at the facility.

Collector said that due to seasonal diseases, about 700 people are visiting the outdoor patients department (OPD) daily here at the district. The majority of them are showing symptoms of malaria and dengue. But the lab tests are being provided in seven hours, due to which people coming from rural areas are facing trouble.

So, the collector instructed the CMHO on Friday to rectify the systems by inspecting the lab and said that such arrangements should be made that patients get report as earliest.

District collector Verma said that administration have also taken a meeting of the private pathology lab after administration got a complaint against them.

He said that for the same investigation the labs are charging fee ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 900.

Administration has ordered that test charges be fixed otherwise punitive action will be taken on receipt of the complaint.

He appealed to the people of the district that tests are offered free of cost in the hospital, instead of private lab, people should get tested here.
