Kukshi (Madhya Pradesh): A 20-member gang committed a dacoity in Kukshi, Dhar taking a family hostage and stealing valuables worth Rs 6 lakh.
The incident occurred around 12:30 am on Tuesday night in Mahakalpura village.
According to police reports, the family of Ramesh Sisodia was asleep after dinner when the robbers struck.
Ten armed criminals broke down the main door of Sisodia’s home while their accomplices stood guard outside to prevent neighbours from intervening.
Once inside, the intruders violently attacked Ramesh and threatened other family members with weapons, including his wife Chatur Bai, mother Bhuri Bai and daughter-in-law Meera, demanding to hand over their jewellery.
The gang made off with 1.5 kg of silver, a new LED TV, three mobile phones and even the family’s goats. After locking the family in a room, the robbers fled the scene. Ramesh Sisodia reported that the gang also threw stones at neighbouring houses.
People did not come out due to fear. Police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the incident. But by then the criminals had fled.
Bagh police station has registered a case on Wednesday and is actively searching for the dacoits. Police in-charge Kailash Chauhan stated that a team was formed to track down the criminals. The police reached the spot shortly after receiving information about the incident, but the criminals had already escaped.
