Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The crime branch arrested a listed criminal, Mukhtiyar Khan of LIG Colony, for alleged illegal land grabbing and extortion. Khan operates a sofa business on LIG Link Road and is a listed criminal at MIG Police Station, with around 35 criminal cases previously registered against him.
He was arrested after multiple complaints alleging that he illegally encroached on plots in the Radhika Kunj Colony area of Indore.
Khan had allegedly constructed tin sheds and shops on the land without authorisation for commercial gain and was threatening the legitimate plot owners while demanding large sums of money in exchange for relinquishing control.
After verifying the allegations, police registered a case against him under Sections 308(4), 308(5), 329(3), 351(3) and 3(5) of the BNS and arrested him. Investigators are currently interrogating Khan to determine whether any other accomplices were involved.
Man held with ganja
Lasudia police arrested a man with 1.39 kg of ganja valued at Rs 14,000. Police caught the accused, identified as Rohit Chauhan of Dhabli village, during night patrolling following a tip-off.
According to police, they caught the accused near Mangalam Garden on Kelod Hala Road. During the search, police recovered the narcotic substance from his possession.
Police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to gather information about the source of the seized drugs.
