Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Many labourers reached the Kishanganj police station on Monday, alleging that Congress leaders failed to pay them Rs 500 each, as promised, after a rally in Mhow.
They claimed they were brought to the meeting to boost numbers and were assured payment, but the leaders allegedly disappeared once the event concluded.
BJP state spokesperson Narendra Saluja highlighted the incident and targeted the Congress in a tweet. Saluja alleged that the exploitation of labourers for political purposes reflected the party’s disregard for ethical practices.
“As soon as the meeting ended, all the leaders disappeared without giving the money,” he said, adding that the matter had now reached the police station. However, the Congress leaders claimed it was a conspiracy by the BJP to defame the party. Police have taken the written complaint of the labourers but no case was registered till late night on Monday.
