Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): Commissioner National Tribal Students Education Committee (IFS) Asit Gopal led central team on Monday inspected the works of Amrit Sarovar and other water conservation works at various places in Khandwa.
During a meeting, CEO (Zilla Panchayat) Nanda Bhalwe Kushre apprised members about various Amrit Sarovar ponds, rainwater conservation and watershed projects under IWMP completed in the district till April 2022 through a presentation.
Deputy director, Ministry of Water Resources, GOI, Jal Shakti, RD and central water commission national water academy Srinivasulu were also a part of the team.
Collector Anoop Kumar Singh informed that water harvesting work had been initiated in various colleges and schools and government buildings in the district to increase groundwater level. Gopal asked to ensure public participation through an awareness campaign along with the conservation of water sources.
Superintendent of police Vivek Singh, DFO Devanshu Shekhar, chief executive officer (Zilla Panchayat) Kushre and other concerned district officials were also present during the meeting. The central team inspected various works in Bhamgarh, Manchodi, Benpura and other rural areas.
The Amrit Sarovar mission is aimed at developing and rejuvenating water bodies by the year 2023, as part of the ëAzadi ka Amrit Mahotsaví celebration.
