Indore : The city Crime Branch police have revealed that the notorious criminals imprisoned in Central Jail were using mobile phones illegally and were talking to their family members and paramours.
Wednesday, Crime Branch officials have revealed that the inmates were also making calls to an automobile dealer for money extortion.
The calls were made by a member of Sudhir Bhadoria gang, who is lodged at the high security jail along with other members of the gang in the 2013 kidnapping of Khandwa-based jeweller Rajesh Jain. According to ASP (Crime) Dilip Soni, a case under Section 387 and 506 of IPC was registered on Wednesday evening against Pankaj Kharat, a Bhadoria gang member.
“The accused has a local link of Bhadoria gang. He has been making calls for money extortion from the jail on the cell-phone of an automobile dealer Yash Khatri to regularly give money to his kin in Indore. Yash had to pay over Rs 50,000 to Pankaj’s kin. Pankaj has also threatened over phone to kill Yash, if he failed to give money and other necessary stuff to his kin regularly,” Soni said.
The city police also arrested one Manish Bhalodia, a local distributor of a premier cell-phone company for issuing SIM cards which were ultimately being used by inmates inside the central jail. The SIM cards issued by Bhalodia in name of others were being used by the jail inmates.
