While IPS secured 2.73 marks on the scale of 4, Kasturba Gram Rural Institute and New GDC got 2.71 and 2.46 marks, respectively.
Of the four colleges accredited by the NAAC this year in the city, only Atal Behari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College managed to secure top grade from the NAAC. NAAC peer team had inspected New GDC College from February 26 to 28 and assessed its standards while peer teams had paid visit to the IPS Academy and Kasturba Gram Rural Institute March 25 to 27.

The NAAC is a statutory body of the University Grants Commission (UGC) which assess standards of institutions of higher learning and accordingly accredits them on seven different criterions viz Curricular Aspects; Teaching- Learning and Evaluation; Research, Consultancy and Extension; Infrastructure and Learning Resources; Student Support and Progression; Governance, Leadership and Management and Innovations and Best Practices.
For NAAC, these seven criteria represent the core functions and activities of an institution and broadly focus on the issues which have a direct impact on teaching learning, research, community development and holistic development of students. It has given weightage to each criterion. The total weight is 1000 points.
The accreditation status of the assessed institution is decided using the weightages. Institutions will be assessed and graded on a four performance descriptors viz A (very good), B( good), C ( satisfactory), D not satisfactory. The performance descriptor would hinge on weightages on which Institutional Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) would be taken out.
