Indore: Zoo gets Rainbow Lory this monsoon

The zoo education officer, Nihar Parulekar, said that the two Rainbow Lorikeets were brought to the city zoo and they will now live in the aviary at the zoo.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): This monsoon, you will not only see a rainbow in the sky, but you will also get a chance to spot a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets in the Indore Zoo aviary. On Saturday evening, the zoo’s new members, the two Rainbow Lorikeets, arrived and, now, citizens can enjoy them and play with them.

The zoo education officer, Nihar Parulekar, said that the two Rainbow Lorikeets were brought to the city zoo and they will now live in the aviary at the zoo. He said that Rainbow Lorikeet is a species of parrot found in Australia. They are medium-sized, with lengths ranging from 25 cm to 30 cm (9.8 inches to 11.8 inches) including the tail, and their weight varies from 75 grams to 157 grams (2.6oz to 5.5 oz). Their head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow nuchal collar and the rest of the upper part (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green.
