Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a significant move to strengthen soldier welfare services, a Vande Bharat Sadan is set to be established on defence land here in honour of the brave warriors of Operation Sindoor.

Lieutenant General P. S. Shekhawat, PVSM, VSM, SM, G-O-C MB Area, reviewed and approved the plans during his official visit on May 15–16. He was accompanied by station commander brigadier Atul Bhatia and other senior officers.

The proposed facility will include an Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) polyclinic, canteen extension counter and transit facility centre, aiming to improve local access to essential services for serving and retired soldiers and their families across Indore, Ujjain and nearby towns.

Col. Pradeep Singh, ECHS in charge, said, “Under the national Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), all retired armed forces personnel and their dependents are entitled to free medical care. In Indore, a polyclinic is already functional and empanelled with all the best hospitals in the city. We’re also piloting an advanced service model for veterans in Mhow to further improve support.”

As a tribute to Operation Sindoor heroes, tree plantation will take place on June 5 (World Environment Day) and a mass yoga session will be held on June 21 (International Yoga Day) to promote wellness. The initiative is expected to greatly reduce dependency on Mhow for basic services, making quality care and resources easily accessible to military families in the region.
