Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Imagine yourself drifting along the tranquil waters of the Saraswati River, surrounded by the warmth of your family. The gentle sway of the boat carries you through the heart of Indore, a journey that once seemed like a distant dream. But now, this is soon going to be a reality as after cleaning Saraswati river, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has announced plans to start boat service in it.  “The boating facility will soon commence in the Saraswati River at Amitesh Nagar. This facility will promote tourism and recreational activities in the area,” Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav told reporters.

In a move to rejuvenate the city's water bodies, the Mayor conducted an inspection of the rivers and ghats on Sunday. During the visit, he emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens and the IMC in conserving and cleaning water sources, including rivers, ponds, wells and stepwells. Accompanied by water works in-charge Abhishek Sharma Bablu, additional municipal commissioner Rohit Sisonia and other officials, Bhargav outlined key initiatives to enhance the city's riverfronts.

Ghat Beautification

The historic Gangaur Ghat and Krishnapura Ghat will undergo extensive beautification to restore their cultural and aesthetic appeal. To revive Indore’s cultural heritage, IMC has decided to organize events at renovated ghats providing a platform for traditional performances and community gatherings.

Water Source Revival

Bhargav said that more than 100 stepwells have been revived to enhance water conservation and maintain groundwater levels.

Chhath Puja Ghat construction

Fulfilling Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s promise, the IMC will swiftly construct three new ghats dedicated to Chhath Puja, catering to the religious needs of the community.
