Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Three men were arrested and 13 stolen motorcycles recovered from their possession, police said here on Monday. After stealing bikes, the accused used to hide them in the bushes or in isolated places and later sold them after manipulating the chassis number and registration number to mislead the police.
According to the Banganga police station staff, following rising bike lifting cases in the area, senior officials constituted a team to arrest the accused. The team received information that a youth on Sanwer Road was selling stolen two-wheelers.
The police reached the place and found a youth with a scooter and four bikes. He disclosed his name as Nisar alias Nasir Shah, a resident of Sanwer Road. He could not show any paper of the vehicles and he allegedly informed the police that Golu alias Rohit of Badodiya Khan and Jaswant alias Gabbar of Sanwer were also involved in stealing bikes. Later, Golu and Jaswant were arrested and other vehicles were also recovered following the information given by them.
The value of the recovered vehicles is Rs 10 lakh
The accused allegedly informed the police that they had stolen bikes from different parts in the city and Ujjain. The accused are being questioned as the police believed that they would reveal more bike lifting cases in the city.
