Indore: Dean of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Dr Sharad Thora has directed the HoDs of all departments to teach etiquettes to the junior doctors and staff under them.

In a meeting with HoDs on Tuesday, Dr Thora informed the professors about behaviour of junior doctors and staff nurse with the patients and their attendants found during recent inspection in the hospital.

“Yes, we have directed them to teach the staff working under them to behave properly with the patients. If patients know everything then why would he come to the doctor and they need proper counselling and information regarding their disease and treatment,” Dr Thora said.

HoDs have also decided to appoint an agency from Mumbai or Delhi to complete the work of paediatric OT. The decision to appoint an outside agency for the work is following the refusal of Public Works Department to do the work. It may be recalled that two infants had died due to mix-up of oxygen and nitrous oxide last year in the operation theatre. HoDs have also decided to appoint Dr Arvind Ghanghoriya as spokesperson of the hospital.
