Indore: Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday approved construction of elevated corridor from LIG square to Navlakha Square and also six-lane Indore-Bhopal highway. PWD minister Sajjan Singh Verma called on the Union Minister in New Delhi and discussed a wide range of issues related to National Highway.
During the meeting Gadkari gave in principal approval to city’s elevated corridor. Minister Verma assured Union Minister that land acquisition issue for National Highways would be resolved in a time bound manner. Verma said that orders for land acquisition for Bhopal-Indore Expressway have been issued.
For smooth and safe traffic operation in the city, consent for Central Road Fund for construction of much-awaited elevated corridor from LIG to Navalkha to has been given. The proposed elevated corridor includes part of LIG Crossing, Palasia Square, Shivaji Statue Square and Navlakha Square.
During the meeting, Union Minister Gadkari also approved Ujjain-Gurnoth New National Highway, which will go to New Delhi from Baroda. Gadkari directed that tender for conversion of Tejaji Nagar Chaurah Khandwa bypass to Bhavarkunwa into six-lane.
On this occasion, Director General Road Development Authority, IK Pandey, Member of National Highway Authority RK Chaturvedi, Union Road Transport Secretary Yadubir Singh Malik, Principal Secretary Public Works Mohammed Suleman, Managing Director, MPRDC Sukhbir Singh and Representative of Public Works Department Manoj Rajani were also present.
