Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Public works and garden department in-charge of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) Rajendra Rathore issued a strict warning to the contractor and consultant for failing to meet quality standards in construction of dividers situated below the metro corridor.

He instructed officials to take stern action against the contractor for substandard work and the consultant for inadequate supervision. Rathore inspected the construction of a 6.5-kilometre central divider along the Metro train route from MR-10 Bridge to Robot Square via Bapat Square and Vijay Nagar Square.

The project, worth Rs 9.95 crore, involves building dividers on both sides of the Metro columns, with plans to fill them with soil and plant greenery.

Final warnings were issued to Omprakash Harkachand Mittal (contractor) and Avneesh Singh (consultant), directing immediate improvements. Failure to comply may lead to contract termination. Senior officials, including superintending engineer DR Lodhi, assistant engineers and project representatives, were present during the inspection.

The beautification process will include the installation of attractive plants and decorative lighting, aiming to create aesthetically pleasing dividers. Different contractors working on divider construction were called to Bapat Square to inspect the ongoing projects alongside municipal officials. Decisions regarding further improvements were also made on-site.

As part of the final phase, plantation and decorative lighting work will begin on completed dividers.

Municipal officials have confirmed that the Rs10 crore budget will cover both the dividers and beautification efforts. If additional funds are required, the corporation will provide them. Officials from the garden department were also present during the inspection to discuss the type and height of plants to be used. The entire project is expected to be completed within the next one to two months.
