Indore (Madhya Pradesh): City police conducted a surprise checking and patrolling operation in the city late on Saturday. The drive focused on criminals, habitual offenders, anti-social elements and people involved in illegal activities.
Police checked criminal and anti-social elements and took action against 524 of them.
During the operation, police executed more than 275 warrants, including 85 permanent warrants, 76 arrest warrants and 114 bailable warrants. Police also took into custody several people who had been wanted for a long time.
Police also took action against 147 people who were allegedly driving after consuming alcohol under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Three cases were registered against people allegedly consuming illegal narcotic substances, while 24 cases were registered for drinking alcohol illegally at public places.
Police also took preventive action against 210 habitual offenders and anti-social elements.
Police called habitual offenders to police stations, prepared their dossiers and issued red or yellow notices. They were warned not to commit further offences and were also made to take a pledge to stay away from crime. Special checks were conducted at hotels, lodges, night shelters, dhabas, railway stations and bus stands.
