Indore: Electrification of 22 km long Indore-Mhow railway line has been completed. However, rolling out electric train in this section will be decided after the inspection and OK report by Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS).
For the first time the railway has completed a project in time. While inaugurating Indore-Mhow broad gauge section in June last year, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan and minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha had announced electrification of the section. The officials had told the minister that the work would be completed by June 2017. But the minister instructed them to complete it by March 2017.
According to official information electrification work of 22 km long section is completed on Wednesday. Electric supply of 25 KV AC is also given to the lines. Railway has also requested passengers not to go in proximity of over head traction line and not to touch any of its equipment. PRO of Ratlam Division Jitendra Kumar Jayant was not available for official comment. Railway sources informed that though power supply to the line has started in the section, electric train service will not be possible immediately as CRS inspection of the section is not done.
