Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The monthly power bill of the Indore Metro is expected to be around Rs 50 lakh, which will include electricity consumption at the stations along with other electricity -related operations. Officials of Madhya Pradesh West Discom said that the electricity to make the Indore Metro operational would be supplied from the 763KV Jedhpura substation, seven to eight kilometres from the metro stations.

This electricity would be brought to the 133 KV substations to be set up at Khajrana, Gandhi Nagar and Kumedi. The power supply would be managed from there. Officials said that the first sub-station was being set up at Kumedi near ISBT and about 96 percent work had been completed.

The Madhya Pradesh Transmission Company is developing the grid at a cost of Rs 8 to 10 crore. At present, the power is being supplied from the 763KV substation situated on Ujjain Road. The power is supplied to a high tension grid with 33 KV current machine via panther line. When all the stations of the metro corridor as well as 32 km of track are completed, the three substations will start supply..

It is estimated that when two trains will move on parallel track from Gandhi Nagar to TCS 12 times a day, along with functioning of electrical appliances at the stations like display boards, escalators and lifts etc, the electricity cost would come to around Rs 50 lakh a month. However, this cost would fluctuate based on the operations and flow of trains in a day, said officials.
