Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A Muslim woman here has lodged an FIR against her husband under the IT Act and sections related to criminal intimidation, accusing him of defaming her through obscene content on social media.

The accused allegedly created a fake ID and uploaded inappropriate photos to malign her reputation.

According to Chandan Nagar police, the 25-year-old woman lodged a complaint against her husband, Mohammad Aqib Ahmed, a resident of Prayagraj (Allahabad).

The two got married in August 2024 and were living together in Prayagraj. However, after repeated disputes, the husband left for Saudi Arabia in October 2024 for work and currently resides there.

The woman alleged that after leaving the country, her husband became abusive during phone calls, often using vulgar language. Following continuous disagreements, he threatened to divorce her. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to kill her on returning to India.

The complaint further said that the accused leaked objectionable photos of the woman on social media. When she confronted him, he threatened her again.

Despite her blocking the account, he created new fake profiles and continued to defame and mentally harass her. Feeling emotionally and mentally distressed, the woman finally approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and IPC provisions related to threats and harassment. Police officials said the matter was under investigation and suitable action would be taken based on evidence gathered during the probe.
