Indore: Lent season begins with Ash Wednesday today

Indore: Catholic community in the city will observe the beginning of Lent season – 40 days and nights of fasting before Easter on Wednesday.

St Joseph Churchin Nanda Nagar, Red Church and other churches will have special Eucharistic services at 6.30 am and 6 pm on Wednesday.

Preparations for Ash Wednesday were seen in almost all the churches in the city on Tuesday. Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is known as Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Day in some countries.

Though there are no major feast parties in Indore like Goa, there are simple observances wherein delicious food is prepared and eaten together by family members.

Gearing up for upcoming 40 days of fast, penance and prayers, a symbol was prepared and showed by priests in churches prior to Ash Wednesday.
