Indore: Ashwini Lohani, the newly appointed chairman cum managing director of Air India, on Saturday assured the roll out of maiden international flight from the city in April this year. He said Air India flight could be for Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. After his arrival in city, he visited Air India office where he held meeting with office bearers and members of MP and Chhattisgarh chapter of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI). He held an in-depth discussion with TAAI member.

Talking to Free Press, aviation sources informed that Lohani was affirmative for starting international flight from the city. Though Jose suggested that international flight should either be for Singapore or Dubai, Lohani pressed for Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. He said AI preparation for rolling out international flight from city is complete.

TK Jose, chairman of MP-CG chapter of TAAI, requested Lohani to give consent for two additional flight for New Delhi one each in morning and evening. On this occasion, Jose and members of AAI greeted Lohani. Before leaving for New Delhi, Lohani held a meeting with airport director Aryama Sanyal and inquired about facilities available for international flights.

Sanyal took him around the airport to show the amenities. Lohani has been appointed CMD of debt-ridden national carrier AI for the second time on February 13. During his previous tenure from August 2015 to August 2017, he had put Air India in a position of profit.
