Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Intermittent rain lashed the city after a gap of almost a week, providing relief to the citizens from the humid weather, on Thursday. The intensity of rainfall in the central and eastern parts of the city was high as compared to the western part which witnessed light showers till evening.
As per the officials of the regional meteorological department, the city recorded 9.8 mm of rainfall, at Airport, throughout the day with which the total rainfall of the season has reached 125.6 mm (4.94 inches), so far. However, the pollution monitoring station at Regal Square recorded 23 mm of rainfall throughout the day.
The Regional Meteorological Department said the conditions would remain the same for the next couple of days and the residents would witness light-to-moderate showers.
Residents woke up to dark clouds and rain on Thursday morning and could not see sunshine throughout the day. The rain, which started on Thursday morning continued to lash the city intermittently till late at night.
“The monsoon is active across the state and the conditions will remain the same for the next couple of days,” Met officials said.
The rain also brought smiles to the faces of residents but water logging and traffic jams at various places posed problems for commuters.
The rainfall in the evening also turned the city’s weather cool as the maximum temperature dropped below 30 degrees Celsius for the first time in the season. The maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 29.3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius, which was 3 degrees Celsius below and two degrees Celsius above normal, respectively.
