In a bid to digitalise their schemes, the women and child development department is focussing on linking Aadhar details of every child visiting the anganwadi with ‘Poshan Tracker’ application which will help officials in identifying the number of children who require nutrition supplement (Poshan Aahar) more effectively.

At present, malnourished children who get Poshan Aahar (food supplements) through Anganwadis are not registered with the Poshan Tracker, which makes it difficult for the officials at the central level to track the level of malnutrition of a child and the extent of the problem in an area.

The ‘Poshan Tracker’ categorises the nutrition level of a child based on his Body Mass Index of the child and also monitors the development of the child. This will help in understanding the amount of nutrition and calories that a child needs in a month. The analysis will ultimately help the department to understand the needs of a child and they can come out with better strategies to eradicate malnutrition.

Meenakshi Harvansh, CDPO, Zone 7, said, “It often happens that a child keeps on slipping into the yellow zone after getting better. We would be able to focus on such children and provide them proper guidance regarding nutrition if they are registered with the application.

Ramniwas Budhelia, additional director, Integrated Child Protection Scheme, said that the ‘Poshan Tracker’ is an effective application and it will help us fight malnutrition in a better way if each and every child visiting an anganwadi is linked to the ‘Poshan Tracker’.
