Indore: IMC to demolish disputed rickety building today

Issuing its order on Thursday, the High Court also directed the IMC to provide accommodation to families living in the dilapidated building before demolishing it.

Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has got a go ahead from the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court to demolish the ‘disputed’ rickety building in Gunji compound on Jail Road on Friday.

Issuing its order on Thursday, the High Court also directed the IMC to provide accommodation to families living in the dilapidated building before demolishing it.

Following the HC orders, the IMC allotted flats to the families in Bhuri Tekri area and planned to bring down the structure on Friday around in the morning.

The high voltage drama between the IMC officials and Indore-3 BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya over the demolition of the building on June 26 erupted in major controversy. The BJP MLA assaulted attacked the IMC official Dhirendra Singh Bais with bat.

Later, the MLA received a rebuked from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the meeting of MPs held in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Singh Chauhan said the drive will be conducted on Friday after the High Court’s orders. Families are shifted to their allotted accommodations.

The demolition drive will be conducted in the presnce of heavy police force, he added.
