Indore: Food Safety Department Conducts Holi Special Inspections, On-Spot Testing In Betma

Three teams of food safety officers were constituted for monitoring of the quality of food items in the district on the instructions of District Collector Asheesh Singh and under the guidance of Additional Collector Gaurav Benal.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): To ensure quality food items for consumers during Holi, the Food Safety Department on Wednesday took samples from various shops here and sent them to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal.  Three teams of food safety officers were constituted for monitoring of the quality of food items in the district on the instructions of District Collector Asheesh Singh and under the guidance of Additional Collector Gaurav Benal.

The samples taken were: Mawa Peda and Milk Cake from Shrinath Sweets, Namkeen in Chhawni area, Ratlami Sev and besan from Shreeji Namkeen RNT Marg, paneer and ghee from Shri Krishna Dudh Dahi Bhandar in Chhawni, Mawa Barfi and Besan Laddoo from MMB Hotel, Malai Barfi and DoodhKatli from Jain Mithai Bhandar& Namkeen, Depalpur, and Malai Burfi from Aaradhya Sweets, also in Depalpur.

Awareness programme in Betma

The Food Safety Administration organised an awareness camp in Betma with the help of Food Safety on Wheels, a mobile food testing laboratory. At the camp, the general public and food business operators were made aware and trained in easy ways to check adulteration in food items. Also, food establishment operators were encouraged to use fortified food for preparing food items. A license registration camp was also held for food business operators.  

On-spot testing

With the help of Food Safety on Wheels, about 25 samples were taken from various shops in Betma and tested on the spot. Test reports were immediately provided to the vendors.
