Indore: Farmer Duped Of ₹ 5.74 Lakh On Pretext Of Investment

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Conmen duped a farmer from Chhattisgarh of Rs 5.74 lakh, luring him on the pretext of investment in forex trading. They had downloaded a fake mobile application to show fake profit to the complainant. The crime branch arrested two people in connection with the case. They are being questioned to gather information about other victims.

DCP (crime) Rajesh Tripathi informed Free Press that the farmer had lodged a complaint, saying he was contacted by a person, who posed as an officer from a company Real Desk Pvt Ltd.

This person told the farmer that his company worked for investment in forex trading. He lured the complainant and got him to download a mobile app for investment. When the complainant invested Rs 10000, the accused showed him a good profit on the investment.

After that the conmen duped him of Rs 5.74 lakh. The complainant had seen a profit but he couldn’t withdraw the money. When he came to know that he was duped by the conmen, he lodged a complaint with the crime branch.

A case was registered under sections 318(4), 316(5) and 3(5) of BNS and a team was constituted to search for the accused. Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch arrested Rajveer Singh of Lasudia area and Ajay Hirve of Azad Nagar area of the city. They allegedly confessed to their crime.

Cyber advisory

To make people aware of such online frauds, the crime branch has issued an advisory. DCP Tripathi said that people should never invest in greed for good profits without checking the credibility of the share advisory company. For trading, one should take note of instructions and rules issued by SEBI from time to time.

People should not share the ID or password of a trading demat account with unknown people and should not click on any fake link received on any social media platform, nor download any APK software file received through a fake link. In case of any fraud, people should immediately call the nearest police station or NCRP portal / 1930 or the cyber helpline of the city crime branch.
