Family members of a man, who succumbed to his burn injuries on Saturday, lodged a complaint with CM Helpline against the forensic expert of District Hospital allegedly for refusing to perform an autopsy of the body.

The family members alleged that Dr Bharat Vajpai refused to perform an autopsy of the body and said that as it was evening, performing an autopsy was not possible.

Santosh Soni, a resident of Timarni, had succumbed to his burn injuries during his treatment at a private hospital in Indore.

"After completing formalities, we brought the body to District Hospital for autopsy. We reached the hospital at 4.45 pm but the duty doctor refused to perform the post-mortem," family members said adding "We requested him to perform the autopsy as we have to take the body back to Timarni, but he didn't listen to our request and left the hospital."

Family members lodged a complaint with CM Helpline against the doctor.

Meanwhile, Dr Vajpai denied allegations and told the media that the body was brought to the hospital in the evening after had he left.

Notably, the then Civil Surgeon Dr Santosh Verma had ordered that the timing for performing an autopsy would be from 9 am to 6 pm, but the order has not been followed.
