Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 25-year-old dhaba operator was allegedly murdered over a petty 'spitting' dispute in Indore on intervening night of Sunday-Monday. The victim objected after some drunk men spat on his feet. When the argument escalasted and the accused attacked him with a knife.
Police arrested one accused while two others remained absconding. The accused's bike was seized.
According to Vijayanagar police, the victim, Lekhraj and his elder brother Shubham are residents of Nandanagar, both of them ran Raja Ram Mini Dhaba near Meghdoot Garden along with their friend Bunty.
After closing the dhaba late on Sunday night, the three were returning home when they encountered Jagdish Sisodia of Nehru Nagar, Pawan Rajak of Anjani Nagar, and Raj Ahirwar.
Bunty told police the three accused, apparently drunk, were riding a bike and spat near Lekhraj’s feet. When Lekhraj objected, a heated argument turned into a scuffle.
The accused pulled out knives and attacked. Lekhraj suffered serious chest injuries and died on the spot. Shubham and Bunty received wounds on their hands and legs.
Police said the accused had just left a wine shop in Scheme Number 54 before the attack.
Lekhraj’s father, Ramesh Jatav, said both sons and Bunty jointly ran the dhaba. Lekhraj had a love marriage three years ago, and the couple had a daughter who died recently due to illness.
Police have initiated an investigation for the two absconding suspects.
