Indore: Debate, plays, rallies held to raise awareness

Indore: A debate competition on, ‘Including traffic education in school curriculum’, was organised for students under Road Safety Week at Pritamlal Dua auditorium on Friday. In all, 38 students from classes from IX to XII of 19 schools participated in the debate.

The winners were Atharv Joshi who spoke for motion and Ashvir Bhatia who spoke against the motion. DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra and SP (headquarter) Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi were present at the programme. Under guidance of ASP (traffic) Mahendra Jain, a seminar was also organised on traffic awareness at a local private school.

DSP (traffic) Umakant Choudhary said traffic awareness rally was organised at Geeta Bhavan, Regal Square, Vijay Nagar and Tower Square. He added that posters and banners were installed across the city to raise awareness on traffic rules. DSP Choudhary said a team of traffic wardens was deputed in different areas to help police in traffic management. Besides, street plays were organised at six different places including Vijay Nagar, Palasia, Annapurana. DSP (traffic) RP Choubey conducted safe driving training of commercial vehicle drivers and passenger buses at Gangwal Bus Stand.
