Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Indore District Court on Wednesday convicted three for conversion of a minor boy. One of the accused married a woman from another religion and then converted her son to another religion. The Ninth Additional Sessions Judge Jitendra Singh Kushwaha, delivered a verdict in Session Case of Khajrana Police Station.
Three individuals Aliyas Ahmed (33), Prarthana Shivhare (27), and Mohammad Zafar Ali (37) were convicted and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a Rs 5,000 fine. The prosecution was led by Assistant District Public Prosecutor Surendra Singh Vaskel.

The case began on July 15, 2023, when the complainant filed a missing person report at the Khajrana Police Station. He claimed his wife and son had gone missing in February 2018. The complainant later discovered that his wife had left him, moved in with Iliyas Qureshi, and forcibly converted their son to Islam.
It was revealed that Iliyas Qureshi had illegally circumcised the child, altered his name, and created forged documents to enrol him in school. Upon investigation, the police registered a case under IPC sections and sections of the Religious Freedom Ordinance, 2020. Mohammad Zafar Ali was found guilty of preparing fake documents, leading to the conviction of all three accused after a thorough investigation.
