Indore: The third wave of coronavirus is bound to come and affect the children soon as with unlocking people are starting to interact with each other. Stating this during his visit to Free Press vaccination centre on Monday, Suresh S Bhadoria, chairman at Index Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Indore, said, “The third wave will definitely come and it will majorly affect children as they have neither been vaccinated nor been exposed to the virus and developed antibodies.”

He further added that vaccination is the same for children as well, as there cannot be much of a change it in. “However, there is still a shortage of vaccination, due to which, we are not vaccinating children in India as yet,” Bhadoria said.

He cited that US (United States) regulators expanded use of Pfizer's shot to those as young as 12 years, sparking a race to protect middle and high school students before they head back to class in the fall.

Special briefing for nursing staff

“While doctors lead the treatment and fight against coronavirus, we cannot deny that healthcare workers especially nursing staff has a major role to play in this fight,” Bhadoria said. He added that the nursing staff has been working non-stop since the outbreak of coronavirus.

“We organise a special briefing for nursing staff every day to motivate them and remind them of their contribution and efforts,” Bhadoria said.

Corona’s can attack after vaccine

“I was also infected with coronavirus even after getting both my vaccination shots, but I know that vaccination helped because as opposed to severe symptoms, I had a slight fever and clear lungs throughout,” Bhadoria said.

Madhya Pradesh tops in battling coronavirus

Discussing the way various states have controlled coronavirus in India, Bhadoria said, "Rajasthan and Kerela have also done well in controlling, but because MP learned from them as well, it has emerged on the top in battling coronavirus."

Preparations for Covid-19 third wave

Following the instructions from state government, all the hospitals including Index are setting up NICU and ICU care for children. "Though luckily, kids are able to recover faster, thanks to their immunity. But, we are prepared with the required facilities," Bhadoria said.
