Indore: Over 200 passenger of a Jet Airways flight arriving from Delhi had a narrow escape after the flight drifted down to as low as 250 feet from the ground on Thursday. The fall was so harsh that the crew, luggage and even the highly balance service trolley too fell down on the floor in a just 2 seconds of jolt mid air.

The Jet Airways Delhi-Indore flight departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi at its schedule time 10.25 am. But, about 30 minutes before landing at the city airport the aircraft carrying over 200 passengers suddenly suffered a major jolt, which was experienced hardly for 2 seconds.

Some passengers of the aircraft later informed this correspondent that the jolt was so severe that air hostess and staff, who were serving tea and coffee to the passengers were all thrown on the floor.

However, the flight landed safely 3 minutes before the schedule arrival of 11.50 am. Airport director Aryama Sanyal however, said no such incident happened in the flight.

Eyewitness Account

We had a horrifying experience in the flight from Delhi to Indore on Thursday. We faced air turbulence and small air pocket drop. The flight had a sudden sharp fall while snacks were being served. Things were thrown on the floor by the jolt. Air hostess and stewards were flown to the roof of the aircraft and then thrown down on the floor by the sharp fall. I have flown a number of times, travelled across the world, but never saw such an incident. However, I must appreciate the flight attendants, as they immediately composed themselves, cleared the passage way of food cart, trays and took charge of things. Luckily, we all landed safely three minutes ahead of the scheduled time.
