Holi was celebrated with gaiety in the city on Thursday. Families prepared special dishes, decorated their homes and smeared colours on each other with gulal. Most people opted for eco-friendly Holi and avoided synthetic colour or water.  People from different communities prepared or brought different sweets.

Members of Maharashtrian community made sweet puran poli, while Rajasthanis prepared special lentil halwa. Sindhis bought home special gheear and pragagri. Gujiyas were relished by many. The revellers sang songs and danced over rounds of bhang sweets, bhang thandai and bhang ghota. The day was spent in parties, get-togethers and celebrations. Like every year, youngsters with their face painted in different hues were spotted celebrating the festival at Rajwada.

Another large group celebration was seen in farmhouses on Bypass road. Many Holi parties were organised in hotels and gardens. City buses and other means of public transport were unavailable on Holi. Hence, the roads were peaceful and empty during the day.
