Indore: Chinese Manjha Lacerates Youth’s Throat, Requires 15 Stitches

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A youth suffered deep lacerations in his throat after kite-flying string (Chinese manjha) got entangled around his neck here on Friday.

The incident took place in the Aerodrome police station area. To note, the sale of this string is banned in the city but still it is continuously being sold, irrespective of the injuries that it causes.

The victim, Akash (20), a resident of Musakhedi, was working at a furniture shop on 60 feet road, Pallar Nagar when the manjha got entangled around his neck. Before he could detangle it, the string, which is often coated with glass particles, made deep wounds in his throat for which he received 15 stitches.

Bound over action against 50 shopkeepers selling Chinese Manjha

Meanwhile, the city police bound about 50 shopkeepers for selling the banned Chinese manjha to prevent any mishap.

The action was taken against the shopkeepers in MG Road, Sadar Bazar, Pandharinath, Chandan Nagar, Malharganj and Tukoganj police station areas. MG Road police station in-charge Vijay Singh Sisodia said that the police had taken action against 11 shopkeepers for selling illegal Chinese manjha.

Earlier, five sellers were arrested and now the Chinese manjha was not being sold in that area, he added. Along with this, posters have also been pasted and a team is being deployed at kite shops to keep a watch. A few days ago, a woman's throat was slit by a Chinese Manjha in Chhatripura area, and she got 22 stitches.
