Indore (Madhya Pradesh): BJP on Sunday demanded FIR against former three-time Congress MLA Ashwin Joshi for his alleged objectionable remarks on Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav during a protest on March 8.

While condemning a statement made by Union minister Prahlad Patel, Joshi made derogatory comments about the mayor, which have sparked outrage within BJP, especially among its youth wing, BJYM.

The BJP has launched a fierce campaign against Joshi, intensifying protests in the city. On Sunday morning, BJP workers defaced Joshi’s posters at Rajwada by throwing black ink.

A day earlier, demonstrators symbolically admitted his effigy to a mental hospital, arguing that Joshi had become 'mentally bankrupt' after losing the election and failing to secure a party ticket. BJYM city president Saugat Mishra along with workers gathered at Juni Indore police station on Sunday evening and demanded an FIR against Joshi.

What did Joshi say?

During the protest, Joshi made a controversial statement from the stage, saying, "The people of the city elected an uneducated mayor, a donkey, of no use to anyone. The people of the city are disappointed. Now no one will vote for educated people."
