Indore: The pattern for assessing students’ academic performance in law courses has been thrashed out by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya on Tuesday, days after Bar Council of India (BCI) left it up to the universities to decided the mode of examinations.

Results of students in their odd semesters (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th) will be prepared on the basis of their internal exam and assignment marks whereas students in even semesters (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th) will have to write exams in online open-book mode in the second week of July.

“Timetable for exams will be released soon. We will also open a link for examination form submission at the earliest,” said exam controller Ashesh Tiwari.

These decisions were taken in a meeting of exam committee held at DAVV on Tuesday.

Last year, BCI had not given this choice to the universities. It had told universities that they would have to compulsorily conduct exams either in offline or online mode. Open-book option was not given.

Following the guidelines, DAVV had conducted examinations in online mode last year.

But this year as BCI relax guidelines, DAVV opted for promoting students in the odd semester on the basis of their internal exams and assignment marks whereas allowed open book mode for those in even semesters and have to take exams online.
