Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In the second incident of misbehaviour and attempt to attack policemen on duty in the last seven days, four drunk men were arrested by Chhoti Gwaltoli police for manhandling two traffic cops and threatening an on-duty constable.
One of the culprits claimed to be the state president of a Hindu outfit. On the complaint lodged by policeman Ajay Singh Tomar, a case of obstruction in government work and assault has been registered against Narendra Singh Bundela, Anil Bundela, Praveen Kaushal and Juneyji.
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm at Madhumilan Square when the traffic constable and Subedar were performing a drink & drive check. A video also surfaced on social media in which the accused were grabbing the collar of a traffic policeperson and manhandling the cops. Chhoti Gwaltoli police station in-charge Sanju Kamble said that a police check was underway on Monday night when traffic policeman Ajay Singh Tomar and Subedar Kazim Hussain Rizvi were posted at the city's Madhumilan Square.
They spotted a speeding car (MP09CY9452) with four passengers and asked the driver to stop. Suspecting the passengers to be under the influence of alcohol, the cops asked the car driver to halt and give a breath test. The car passengers started to misbehave, got violent and entered into an altercation with the policemen. They abused them and even grabbed the collar of one of the officials. The officials sought help from Chhoti Gwaltoli police station through a wireless set. The police team rushed to the spot and arrested the four accused. The police registered a case against the accused under sections 115, 296, 351(2) (3), 3(5), 132 of the BNS and arrested them.
Group of men misbehaved with cops on Jan 21
On the night of January 21, a group of men, celebrating the birthday of a person in a public place allegedly misbehaved with the policemen who came there after receiving a complaint of creating nuisance against them outside the Regional Park under Rajendra Nagar police station jurisdiction, and tried to attack the policemen.
Someone shot a video of the incident in which a youth was seen manhandling a policeman. The police identified 10 men and arrested them after registering a case under section 132 of BNS (use of criminal force or assault against a public servant while they are performing their duties).
