Health dept to use ‘ Asha’ activists as detectives

Indore : If you see a health activist of ‘ Asha’ asking details about not only the health schemes and services but also about every incident and activity of a village or any urban area, then don’t be surprised. State health department is all set to use Asha activists as the main source of information for them.

Now, they will not only report the trend of the diseases in villages and their areas but also report all the incidents and events including accidents, new birth, marriage and others.

“ es, we have initiated to make the Asha activists a main source of information.

They were reporting about pregnancy details and were informing patients about the health schemes. Henceforth they report all the incidents to the senior officials through the Janani Express call centres,” integrated diseases surveillance programme incharge Dr GL Sodhi said.

He further said that principal secretary, health Praveer Krishna had chaired a meeting with the health officials, a couple of days ago, in which he directed the officials to take daily report of every village.

“ Asha activists will send a report to the call centre which will be analysed by a districtlevel team including the IDSP incharge, malaria officer, CMHO and Civil Surgeon.

After reviewing the reports, appropriate actions will be taken and the details will be forwarded to the Principal Secretary,” Dr Sodhi said.
