Indore : Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has reserved its verdict on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging installation of high tension line in middle of Susner in Agra Malwa district.
“After listening to the side of Agra Malwa collector Vinod Sharma, a division bench of Justice PK Jaiswal and Justice JK Jain reserved its order in the case,” said advocate Manish Vijayvargiya, a counsel of the petitioner, Asha Bhausar of Susner.
Vijayvargiya stated that for installation of high tension line, the Madhya Pradesh Western Area Power Distribution Company was required to take permission from competent authority.
“If case of residential area, local body’s permission is required. But in Susner a high tension line with 33 KV of power is being installed in residential area without any permission from local body.”
Vijayvargiya added that the high tension line passes over many houses and a government school.
The counsel said several researches had proved that high tension line creates an electromagnetic field in the radius of six metres and living objects coming into the field could get adversely affected. Despite the fact, the Discom is taking the high tension line from middle of the town.
Bhausar said that the Susner Municipal Council had lodged a complaint against the company with district administration but to no avail. “The Discom continues to install high tension line and thereby life of 50,000 in the town at risk.”
In its report to the court, the collector claimed that the high tension line is installed after complying with all set procedures and rules.
