Guna: Woman who married after running from home dies, poison found in preliminary investigation

Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A woman, who ran away from home and had married a Muslim youth without consent of family three years back, died on Saturday. The couple had come to Guna few days back. Last night, Kirti died after consuming poison, the preliminary investigation found.

The post-mortem was performed on Sunday morning in presence of heavy police force. Three years back, Kirti Jain, a resident of Trimurti Colony, had eloped with a Muslim youth Wasim Qureshi, resident of Shivaji Nagar.

Both of lived out of Guna for about one-and-a-half years, during which Kirti Jain gave birth to a girl child. The police have taken statements of Kirti's brother Kuldeep and his mother who have levelled allegations against Wasim. Her last rites were performed amidst heavy security arrangements.

A case has been registered in this connection. Investigation is on.
