Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A shopkeeper has been arrested in Kumbhraj town of Guna district for allegedly selling fertilisers and pesticides at more than the fixed rates. He was arrested in a joint action of the police and the revenue departments.
According to details from SDOP Divya Singh Rajawat, acting on a tip-off, police along with revenue officials arrested a fertiliser vendor identified as Ramvilas Sahu. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act and Black-Marketing Act. As many as 138 sacks of DAP (diammonium phosphate) manure were also seized from his possession.
In another incident, over 10,000 sacks of DAP were found in a warehouse of the cooperative society located at Tankakhurd which is only given to the members of the society. Other farmers have to purchase fertilisers from private shopkeepers. Private shopkeepers are taking advantage of the situation.
They are selling sacks of fertilisers at high prices while there is no shortage of fertilisers in the district.
DMO Marketing Association, Garima Sengar has appealed to the farmers to remain alert and inform the concerned department about any malpractice.
