Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore is on the brink of entering the metro era, with the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) granting safety clearance for the city’s first metro line. The commercial run is expected to commence soon, though the exact date is yet to be officially announced.
Sources suggest that the Madhya Pradesh government aims to kick off operations soon, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to flag off the inaugural ride. Meanwhile, Bhopal’s metro line is expected to follow suit by May or June, but Indore will be the first city in Madhya Pradesh to launch commercial metro services.
According to information, the initial phase will cover a 5.9 km stretch of the Yellow Line’s Super Priority Corridor, running from Gandhi Nagar to TCS Square. The route includes five fully-equipped stations with elevators, escalators, ticket counters, and other commuter-friendly amenities. Metro trains will stop at each station every two minutes during commercial operations, offering fast and convenient transit.
To enhance accessibility, e-bus services will connect major areas like Radisson Square and Gandhinagar to metro stations. The minimum fare for passengers is set at ₹20, with promotional discounts expected during the initial phase. Trains will operate at intervals of 15 to 30 minutes, depending on passenger volume.
