Indore (Madhya Pradesh): "Comedy is tough, but we’re bringing something fresh,” said legendary choreographer-turned-actor Ganesh Acharya during the promotions of 'Pintu Ki Pappi' in Indore.

In an exclusive chat with Free Press, Acharya said, “Dance is an emotion, not just movement. When you feel it from the heart, the audience connects.” The much-anticipated comedy, featuring Shushant Thamke, Jaanyaa Joshi, Viidhi and Acharya himself, is set for release on March 21 and has been generating buzz across Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Indore with back-to-back promotions.

Challenges remain reflecting on Bollywood’s evolution, Acharya said, “The struggle remains, but opportunities have expanded. Hard work and dedication are still key.” Lead actor Shushant Thamke, from a theatre background, said that comedy is one of the toughest genres. “Retakes were challenging because repeating the same joke with the same energy is difficult,” he said.

Pintu Ki Pappi blends classic and contemporary humour

Jaanyaa Joshi highlighted how Pintu Ki Pappi blends classic and contemporary humour. “Young audiences love sarcasm, dark humour and self-aware storytelling. This film carries a beautiful social message that all generations will enjoy.”

Tribute to Mahakal Acharya’s deep spiritual connection to Lord Shiva influenced the decision to promote the film in Indore. “My wife worships the Jyotirlinga daily at 3 AM. The moment I heard the concept, I knew we had to bring this film to Mahakal’s city,” he said.

Final thoughts Acharya teased the film’s soundtrack, predicting that songs like Shivoaham and Taka Taki would soon go viral. With its mix of laughter, romance, and foot-tapping music, Pintu Ki Pappi promises to be a must-watch when it hits theatres on March 21.
