Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 40-year-old vintage bicycle worth Rs 6,000 and the most expensive track carbon high-end bike worth Rs 12 lakh are among those on display at the first exhibition of bicycles at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) in the city.

The seven-day exhibition, Wheels of Udaan-A Ride Through Time, has been organised by Green Planet Bicycle Riders Association (GPBRA) in collaboration with IGRMS. State sports minister Vishvas Sarang inaugurated the event.

About 40 rare bicycles in eight categories have been displayed. They include Vintage, TT Frame, XC Frame MTV, Tandem, Single Gear, Zayed and Road Bike. The Kaichy cycle and the bicycle, which were used to carry milk included a vintage one . Hybrid cycle is suitable for both city and hilly terrains while Tandem Cycle is designed for two persons.

Placards with slogans like, Darr ke aage jeet hai, Red bull gives you wings, A bicycle is a flight from sadness and Age is just a number hung from the specimens of world’s oldest two-wheelers.

The highlights of the exhibition included group cycling portraits, cycles ranging from vintage to modern technology, an interactive heritage wall and workshops for the youth.

The exhibition showcased the bicycles of cycling enthusiasts like Ironman Zamran Hussain, Nandan Narula, Priya Bhave Chittaber, which showcased their contribution to the cycling culture.

In his address, Sarang said cycling was not just a means but a symbol of a cultural movement, technological innovation and environmental responsibility. A felicitation ceremony was held. RK Singh, Narmada Prashad Uike, SK Pathak and Jyoti Karma, Neelesh Panchal, Santosh Saini, Sandhya Mourya, Cyclist were feted for always using bicycle for transport and commuting.
